Complications
Doug here, blogging by proxy. Which I suppose is better than Munchausen by proxy.
Mom’s upper respiratory infection is interfering with her recovery from pneumonia. Currently, she can hardly sit up in bed without getting short of breath. She has long-standing chronic asthma and COPD (bronchitis and emphysema).
If you’d like to help, she is accepting and/or in need of:
-positive thoughts
-prayers
-distance healing
-energy work
-Reiki, etc.
-expert advice that does not involve calling 911 or going to the hospital.

Sending healing and positive thoughts your way!
Much love too. Feel better fast!
Hugs!
P.s. Massage works wonders with relieving congestion and breaking it up too.
Percussion (like drumming) between the shoulder blades is a good place to start followed by long strokes working from waist to neck on either side of the spine.
Positive thoughts and prayers from (the other) Great White North.
Oh no. Prayers and positive thoughts.
munchausen by proxy… *snort* .like mother like son.
tell kathy i’m wearing the necklace she made. it’s resting right by my heart. and tell her, i heard that…i do too have a heart. :]
plenty of good thoughts from kansas are going her way.
Tell her I’m sending positive thoughts her way…….
Love and energy from me…

Thanks, Doug, for the update. I was afraid herself was having a tough time.
Prayers, light and energy are northwest bound from Rochester, NY.
Peace and patience be with you both.
Positive thoughts, healing prayers and my expert advice, having done this same thing more than once in my life (most recently 2 weeks ago) is “Get her to emergency ..
…NOW!!” This has been going on TOO long, she needs some Oxygen and probably some antibiotics. Now, she’s going to refuse, but you and the old fart need to take charge.
sending positive thoughts and prayers for good health
Positive thoughts, prayers, energy… all being sent her way.
Take care of her…and yourself.
warmest thoughts,
SA
after nearly losing my mother to a lung infection complicated by asthma and emphysema earlier this year, I strongly advise you to get her to a hospital… mum was in intensive care for nearly 2 weeks while they pumped oxygen and antibiotics into her and was only given a 20% chance of making it back home.. luckily the treatment worked..this time
sending healing thoughts
*Not so gentle drumming/pounding on her back (between the shoulderblades, and just above that area and below) can help loosen congestion.
*Sleeping propped (rather high) on pillows can help keep breathing a little easier, as well as sleeping on the side (and switching sides as needed).
*Halls (medicine center) cough drops dissolved in tea can help soothe the throat and can help with expectoration.
*A little Vicks Vapo-Rub can go a long way…if she isn’t too sensitive too it, rub a thin film on the forehead, and a thicker film on the chest.
*Steam (Like a big pot of boiling water) can loosen phelgm. Put a towel over her head and let her breathe steam for a few minutes or as long as she can stand it.
*Standing, even for short periods, can loosen phlegm.
*Stay away from milk, yogurt, cheese, and creams, all of which can make mucus thicker. Plenty of plain (room temp) water is good for loosening.
*Sometimes, people with COPD are told to make their mouths into little “o’s” as they breathe—the concentrated space makes breathing FEEL more productive and effiecient, which can lead to “real” better breathing.
I am sure your mom knows all this, however. She has always been MY medicine woman.
Lots of positive thoughts, energy, prayers, and compassion are coming her way.
Breathe easy, Kathy,
not sure what her allergies are but if she not allergice make chicken soup….
CHicken borth
chicken and what ever vegies you have lying around
steam is good as well as ginger tea
pump water type liquids through her at least 8 oz an hour (tea, water)
give her one week and then if not noticablly improved I would take her to the emergency room….this has been going on way too long and she is not gettting better….at least try the local indian shaman if conventional is totally out of the question
Sending Positive thoughts and hoping for a very speedy recovery.

Sending healing thoughts her direction…
I hope all goes well for your mom.
Positive thoughts, you got it! Not to mention some sympathy… Having a nice bout of bronchitis myself here. I forget from one year to the next how much this sucks ass.
Advice… I don’t think I have any that hasn’t already been covered. And as much as it will annoy her, I have to agree with the folks on seeking medical attention. This has been going on for quite some time, after all.
Healing thoughts and prayers are being sent continuely from my neck of the woods. I miss your mother.
To the well-meaning folks who recommended “professional” help–get over it. The first physician she encountered–the one who delivered her–told her mother not to make any plans for her first birthday party.
In any case, hospital care is simply unavailable for poor people like us in this benighted country. Sending her to hospital would not only incur bills that I would never, ever be able to pay, it would expose her to ferocious hospital-bourne infections, and a physically, emotionally and spiritually toxic environment. It would expose Doug and I to being hounded by collection agencies for as long as we both would live. (I’m not exaggerating–my one hospital stay–an overnighter for a broken bone–helped drive me to bankruptcy.)
And BTW–NO ONE “takes charge” of Kathy.
Doug, thanks for the update. I hope Kathy gets better soon!
Greyfox, I can understand about the hospital, the place I dread to go, but have been and the blood sucking, collection ticks start sinking their teeth in deep and chasing one through an eternity of paperwork and harassment. Argh!
My professional advice, well, umm, get better. I don’t know how, but I wish you well.
Sending what I can of those positive thoughts and healing prayers.
Forgot this…get well!
Sending the purest, most positive, ultimately strength giving, loving, and the most sincerest of compassionate, healing thoughts DIRECT from my spirit to yours.
All of my energies will focus to your health, and to the jump start of your healing and throwing this thing aside for good!!
KNOW that you are enveloped in the loving healing energies of many. Think of that often. Feel the warmth we are sending. Feel your healing happening. Know that you are now moving into easier times. Know that you are on your way to restored health.
Doug?…Greyfox?…..please remember to remind Kathy often to let it in, to feel it envelope her.
My personal thoughts and energies will be concentrated to the cleansing away of your physical ills.
As far as my limited ability will allow, I send my own spirit to you…..to hold you, and help keep you strong. Togeather we will be stronger, and I truely can assist with the cleansing of your ills in your weaken state. Please allow me to do what I can to help you in reclaiming your body. Allow us all in to assist you Kathy. Feel us with you in spiritual, ongoing love.
The healing process was stalled, but with all this love it WILL be renewed as a force not to be held back!
May you breathe easier RIGHT NOW! May you breathe easier tonight, and experience more restful sleep. May you breathe easier in the morning. May you recognise shortly that this thing is loosing it’s hold and leaving you. May you experience the joy of your breath and also feel renewed strength coming to you. May you KNOW in your heart and soul how you are loved.
PS Greyfox….I was reading all the comments and was surprised to see the hospital stuff….especially after a specific request to not have it suggested.
I don’t know Kathy in ‘real life’ and have hardly spoken to her in ‘xanga life’ but, your BTW–NO ONE “takes charge” of Kathy comment brought a lightening of spirit, and a smile too. This is the woman I imagine and hear in her words. She is…….a gift. You and Doug take care as well…..Best to you all………The healing has begun…..BELIEVE IT
All shall be sent no need to ask enjoy the season and celebrations.
I hope that Snooze180 has helped with Kathy’s healing. It is quite apparent that all of us are very concerned for her health. I will not repeat my original advice as it seems no one is really interested in medical care. Hopefully, Kathy is recovering and breathing better. The alternative is not good.

Since I haven’t seen another ‘update’, just wondering how Kathy is doing.
I understand about medical costs driving you into bankruptcy (been there myself!) however, I believe Kathy might qualify for medicaid assistance and possibly medicare also. I also understand about the hospital infections but a trip to a local doc might help if she is still sick.
Healing sent at this moment!
Blessings and many wishes for good health!
I’ll add my healing thoughts to the collective, too. I’m off to light a candle.

Tell her to stop whining and remind her that holding her breath is negative attention and to start breathing. I mean, really.
Sheesh …
(Tell her I love her …)
I’ve worked for a hospital. They’ll never send you to collections. Tell them you can’t pay and make a deal. Pay $10. Trust me on this one.
