Redoubt Volcano Again
AVO warned this morning:
Seismic and rockfall activity increasing. Explosive eruption likely in coming days; could occur at any time with little or no warning.The growing lava dome is becoming increasingly unstable and should a dome failure occur it likely would result in a significant explosion producing high altitude (>30,000 ft ASL) ash plumes, trace to minor ash fall in parts of south-central Alaska, lahars in the Drift River Valley, and pyroclastic flows in the immediate vicinity of the volcano.
If it blows, flights will be grounded. This is not a good time to be flying into or out of Alaska. If you’re coming here for your summer vacation, a cruise ship might be more reliable.

@Czolya - Air quality, mostly, and respiratory problems. We had some railroad tracks washed out and buried under ice because the breakup of the rivers was exceptionally rapid this year. I’m sure it was precipitated by the volcanic ash on the snow, absorbing more solar energy, melting things faster.
