  • Snow is back!

    Our
first snowfall a couple of days ago was the earliest snow ever recorded
for Anchorage.  It didn’t last long.  Perhaps it lasted a bit
longer here than it did in Anchorage and the lower elevations between
here and the city, but by the time I went to bed last night it had all
been washed away by the rain.   Before I got up today, some
cold air had moved in and the rain had become a crusty layer of new
    snow.

    When I
saw the blue sky and interesting low sun angle, I jumped out of bed and
grabbed the camera.  I didn’t even take time to pull down the legs of
my “pajamas”, a comfortable old pair of men’s red longjohns, from where they
had hiked up to just below my knees.  I just jumped into my boots
and scooted out there to catch the light before it changed.

I hurried about halfway down the block to get past the trees for the view across the muskeg in the first picture.

The next shot is looking south along the street when I turned back
toward home.  Home is there among the trees on the right.
Same old muskeg, same old street — I must get out more and remember to
    take the camera with me.

The plants and stuff in the front window caught my eye as I came up the
driveway.   There’s only a little bit of condensation on the
window now.  Soon it will be lots of frost.

A recent Muskeg Heights strip featured Rhonda, my favorite flamingo, still trying to get south..

  • Those are lovely pictures.
    I like the sky.

  • I love picture windows, thanks for sharing yours….lucky duck..my view is the local police station and a flag pole. The other day it was at half staff…wonder who died….greeeaatt way to start the day

  • Our view is the strip mall across the street. Your view is much better. Snow!!! Hard to fathom but alas there it is! On a cold day I want to snuggle down with a good book and veg- not sure if my first instinct would be to go out in it.

  • wow…your pix are like postcards…you live in a small piece of heaven don’t you…huggs…Sassy…

  • Xanga-gram!  Hi sweety–well, that 20% chance is piling up pretty good, looks like another day off.  The extended forecast is looking good for the weekend, though.

Silky is still preggers, but was super-antsy this morning, maybe she is due real soon.

Did a little more work on the latest Melody, and will make the scout calls as soon as I’m done here.

Hope you all are okay, call you tonight.  (Reminder–meds–blood sugar.  Love ya.)

  • Good shots. Were they taken with a digicam? You should upload higher resolution shots to an online photo album. I believe yahoo provides unlimited (or at least close to unlimited) web space for pictures. Some friends of mine use it for showcasing their camera work. Definitely cool stuff.

    Like the comic too.

    Whole lotta moxy.

  • Beautiful pictues.  No, when you see something like that you can’t worry about silly things like clothes.

  • Wednesday Xanga-gram–just posted a blog with the latest on Silky, and a cute dog story.

Brushed an inch of new snow off the car this am, the snow turned to rain as I got into Wasilla.

Today–work on cleaning off table; write out fall/winter show schedule; deal with the latest two cases of veggies in the middle of the floor; read the Bookman book.

Hope you have a good day, talk to you tonight.

  • Ohh all the pictures are sheere torture! I miss it so,a nd would gladly trade in outr white sands for some beautiful winter snow, but not too much cuz I’m used to heat now and all.

    Luv ya guys,

    Seph

  • Great photos, by the way I haven’t forgotten the quilt I owe you. I know it has been a long wait but last winter my health was bad and then the divorce but now I am getting settled, sorting fabric and making quilting plans. I even found the bobbin to my sewing machine. It will still take time, probably the end of November but it is on my agenda.

  • Thursday Xanga-gram–took down the curtain, it was soaking wet, dried it as I showered.  Got the tire iron out of the car, ripped off some of the molding above the sliding door–it was warped and rotten–now I have two real big drips instead of half a dozen small ones.  It is an improvement, I guess.

There may be  some work tomorrow, 20% chance of shitty.

Hope you all are okay, talk to you later.

  • beautiful shots, kathy.  your description of yourself hurling yourself half prepared (clothing wise) reminded me of a little kid.  made me smile.

hey?  did you see the post i did on my parent’s stray cat?  i thought of you when i saw the cat.  reminded me kind of of the one you had that went missing.  pidney???  is that right?
