  • Honey-Mustard Salad Dressing

My recent blog about what I do for a living reminded Sarah of a salad she had, of greens I foraged while she was here.  She asked me to post the recipe for the dressing.

This is the house dressing around here.  It is difficult to
find commercial dressings without vinegar, and with my blood type (A)
I’m not supposed to consume vinegar.  I also have to watch out for
black pepper.  I’m allergic to it, and it can legally be included
in foods with only the word, “spices” on the label.  For these and
many more reasons, it pays to make my own salad dressing.  It
can’t be too sweet, mustn’t get a glycemic response from my
salad.  It has to taste good, or I won’t eat it.  I’m picky.

It does not have a long shelf life, so I make it in small
quantities.  I never measure ingredients.  When Sarah asked
me, a few years ago, to send her the recipe, I tried to make something
up.  I put it on an index card.  It seemed vague and
obscure.  I tried again.  When she asked me to post this
recipe, I dug out the index card.

I always start by dissolving a little honey in some warm water…

  • wOw, I’ll have to send this one on to my mother-in-law! She’ll love it! The only salad I can eat (and enjoy) is Caesar salad. The best Caesar salad dressing I’ve ever had can only be found at this Mexican restaurant in Texas called Mamacita’s. God, I wish they would market that stuff. It almost sends me into orgasm!

  • YUM!!!!  Something new to experiment with! I love salad and bought dressings are SOOOOO expensive….thanks for sharing

  • Mm mm! Honey mustard dressing is the best by far. You have excellent taste, as usual.

  • looks great! something different for a change…

  • Okay I am dense what does vinegar have to do with blood type A? Hope you have a relaxing weekend

  • that sounds yummy!

  • You write recipes exactly like I do. I never measure anything either. It always comes out a little different each time, but it keeps it interesting that way. hehe

  • my mom has a book that is eat right for your zodiac sign (i think). life is so complicated as it is, i don’t want to add food to the complication. easy and fast works for me. (i’m lazy, lol) hugs

  • I love your recipe… the way you wrote it out and the way its worded and the sound of how good it seems….

  • I can  make this!  I’ve got all the ingredients!   ~Spot~

  • Homemade salad dressing is always the best, regardless of health concerns. Actually, homemade anything is usually better! The dressing sounds yummy.

  • sounds familiar… “never measure ingredients”… I usually just follow my intuition… so, whatever I make, it’s always different but right, for that particular moment… or maybe it’s just my allergy to rules

  • I’m so relieved to have finally posted a recipe for which spot has all the ingredients.  Also, I couldn’t help noticing how defensive LostAngel is about her eating habits.  It doesn’t take a psychic to predict illness in that future.
