Alaska, No Longer So Frigid, Starts to Crack, Burn and Sag
Things are changing here, and they’ve even noticed in NYC. Right now, our valley is in day two of the second killing heatwave of the year, and it’s not even summer yet. The kid’s on the floor with a cold cloth on his head, and I’m going to shut this heat-radiating machine down and find a cooler spot. MaƱana, y’all.

oh no. just think cool thoughts and drink lots of cold water. is it scary to think how hot the summer will become?
Love your cat stories….I once had a dog who was in love with one of my cats. I’m not sure if he thought he was a cat too.
what has the temperature gotten up to? It is only 55 in Ohio today…much cooler than is expected. They say the east coast is becoming like the west and vice versa. we aren’t California like yet. -kristy
Bummer
Outdoor temps here yesterday got up into the eighties, and it was so hot inside I didn’t even want to know. In the woods, the petals on the wild roses are limp and birch leaves are glossy/translucent from lack of water. Compared to other areas both in Alaska and elsewhere, we are not in such bad shape right now because of the rain we got earlier this month. Air conditioners are rare around here, which makes it harder for us humans right now.
I can’t stand the heat. It’s really hot here, and it’s like an oven in the house. I’m one of those people who never tan so Summer is even more of a nightmare for me. Bring back the winter I say.
Haven’t been aware of any earthquakes, but it’s been unseasonably warm and wonderful here …
June usually brings fog … three years ago I counted 39 days in summer with no sun.
Sorry it’s so hot, (it’s all my fault ya know …)
Damn, send some o’ that our way!
