Current T-200 Standings
When I left the computer to Doug last night, Cim Smyth had a 3 minute lead on Lance Mackey. At latest update this morning, 14 minutes ago, Lance was 13 minutes ahead of him. Jessica Hendricks, who won the Sheep Mountain 150 in December, is in third position.
All seventeen teams in the race have completed their mandatory 8-hour rests. Tim Osmar and Wattie McDonald are both still in the race, far back in the pack but not as far back as Rachael Scdoris.
Travis Beals won the Junior T and Dean Osmar won the T-100.
Update: Out of Caribou Lake, around 10 AM, Lance Mackey was still in the lead, eight minutes ahead of Cim Smyth.
2nd update: Around 1 PM, out of Oil Well Pad checkpoint, Cim Smyth was 8 minutes ahead of Lance Mackey, with Jessica Hendricks in 3rd position, about 2 and a half hours behind the two leaders.

I am voting for the “under dog” …this is so cool…hugs, Sassy
Hey I’m not Alaskan so I don’t know that much about Iditarod but it sure seems more like a real sporting event for real people, than does the Superbowl for instance…which I am not watching today.
@Sassenach_org - Your “under dog” won. Cim Smyth beat Lance Mackey by 2 minutes.
awesome news – 2 minutes…SuSu do they give the dogs a special dinner or something when the win? Just wondering – I don’t know about this and I find it facinating and refreshing for the dogs to be able to do this. I always heard that they love it. When I was a child, before the divorce of my parents – we were supposed to move near the “pipe line” some day I would love to go and see Alaska – I named my dog Taku after the glacier/river she lived to be sixteen years. strong like the ice…hugs…Sassy
@Sassenach_org - Traditionally, at the Iditarod Musher Awards Banquet after the race, the lead dogs of the winning team get to attend the banquet and have a big steak. I don’t know what the practice is at other races. Mushers usually reward their dogs for performance. It is an effective training trick, and it reinforces the affectionate relationship they have. Good food also makes stronger dogs. Racing dogs eat a lot of meat and fish, and get supplements of fish oil.
I hope that get the steak…Sassy
