A Dream
In the dream, I mention to a mutual friend that I have seen my old boyfriend, Crip, and he was acting weird, seeming glad to see me but in a hurry to get away. I remark to my friend how odd the end of myrelationship with Crip had been, how we had been getting along fine and loving each other, then suddenly he stops coming around.
My friend says, “Didn’t you know? It was that devil, Connie.”
I express my surprise, saying I didn’t know Crip even liked her.
My friend says, “He never did like her much, and now he really hates her.”
As the story unravels, I learn that this “she-devil” had become obsessed with Crip. When he was unresponsive to her advances, she had, one way and another, caused him to lose his job, got him kicked out of his apartment, ruined his credit, and got him arrested for some minor crime he hadn’t committed.
He had recently gotten out of jail, and when he ran into the mutual friend, Crip had told him he really couldn’t hang out, because Connie had threatened to give the same treatment, or worse, to all of his friends. That was why Crip was staying away from me, to protect me from Connie’s wrath.
With our friend’s connivance, Crip and I arranged a way to communicate without Connie knowing, and even arranged a brief meeting or two. The three of us and a few other friends were plotting how to evade her moves against us as we devised ways to neutralize her, and that’s when a big crash in the kitchen woke me up.

Connie. That devil!
Interesting… How much (if any) of the dream was based on reality?
Quite a dream indeed – it does make one wonder how much of it was based on reality or if it was just the opposite, or about something else entirely. But then I know you have good handle on your dream interpretations.
@lupa - @framaz - I have never known anyone named Crip, but I sometimes refer to myself as a crip. I don’t know anybody named Connie, but the word con has a couple of meanings for me. If there is a message in the dream, I guess it is to beware of Connie… or maybe that Crip has a lot of good friends who will go to bat for him.
Someone Crippled, and someone Conned?
@BlueCollarGoddess - I do know someone, on Xanga, who is not really crippled, but is running a con for the disability payments. I also know someone else who is both a confidence artist and a really vindictive, manipulative asshole. Neither of them has been on my mind lately – no room there for anything but politics. Maybe this dream is manifesting my fears that someone might want to shut me up about her attempts to con the voters.
Since you’ve referred to yourself as a crip, perhaps you are seeing that a part of you is missing or staying away. Perhaps that part of you is hiding to keep the rest of you safe from Connie who may represent, oh, I dont know who.
I protect myself from a lot of folks around here. I live in “Right Wing Land.” I seriously need protection.
@SuSu - Up until now I had no idea that “con” was a contraction of confidence.
Crash in the kitchen…does this mean
Doug will have to do dishes a bit more often?
Hey Kathy, interested in some privacy invasion? Palin’s been using her semi-official email addresses to flout certain laws anyway. http://gawker.com/5051193/sarah-palins-personal-emails
Screenshots at the bottom, if you haven’t seen them already. I don’t know if you’re familiar with anon, but they procured them by simply guessing Sarah’s password. Anon is the collective that Fox News has referred to as the “Internet Hate Machine”. Earlier this year, they orchestrated Church of Scientology protests worldwide in Guy Fawkes masks. I personally know a few who went to the Adelaide protests.
http://encyclopediadramatica.com will tell you something about their errr.. culture if you haven’t heard of these guys already. They originated (and still linger)on the /b/ board of 4chan.org.
Rather interesting, I have to say!
@Apocatastasis - Thank you. I have strong feelings about privacy, having lived a few times without even a thin illusion of it. It is one of those things, like “security” that seems to mean a great deal to some people, but has no significance for me.
On the one hand, the only way to have any real privacy is to stay out of range (like a hermit) or fly below the radar (like a ninja). On the other hand, the only people who feel they need privacy are those with something to hide.
@SuSu - I laughed at the irony of this quote taken from the first screenshot,
“Arghhhh! He is so inconsistent and purposefully misleading!”
