In the ongoing fight to clean up the government, a federal grand jury has indicted old Ted for seven counts of falsely reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars in services he received from VECO.

He has long considered himself bulletproof because of his committee chairmanship which has brought Federal megabucks to Alaska.  Undoubtedly, many of my fellow Alaskans will be rooting for him to slide out of his current predicament and stay in power.

I am glad he is being prosecuted.  He and some of his now-convicted co-conspirators were so proud of their crimes that the girlfriend of one of them made up a bunch of personalized gear such as gimme caps, labeled “Corrupt Bastards Club.”  I hope he will be convicted.  I hope his corrupt son Ben also gets his comeuppance.  While I’m at it, I will throw in a hope that those responsible for renaming Anchorage International Airport as Ted Stevens International will come to their senses and restore the old name.

  • tell us how you really feel…lol. i share your sentiments ~ jack

  • That’s f’ing disgusting.  The corruption in this world never ceases to amaze me.  He looks like a total SOB, too.

  • Well not being from Alaska I don’t know much about the “Corrupt Bastard Club”, but I am sure there are plenty of them from Texas.  I mean Enron was in Texas, right?

    Hugs, Tricia

  • I was wondering if you would have something to say about it.

  • I’m against naming anything after anyone. But I’m weird.
Also, for some reason, I first read his name Ted as Tard.

  • Ah! I do feel it’s a sunnier day when someone is challenged and exposed by justice.  As I raise my children and we talk about the “rules of the game” I have the duty to be honest about the good guys not always winning.  They give me this look when I say: “Honey, life is not fair.”  I’ll take the look over lying to them.

  • no chance. if he is convicted, it will be a comparatively puny sentence, unless they absolutely cannot avoid it, and when he is free, everything will be okay, primarily because he will talk about divine repentance.

  • I also hope now Alaska gets “saved” from the oil man…..;)

  • I don’t suppose he has any hats left over?

  • Sad stuff.  Sobering.  I hope he gets to do time in a real prison, not a country club federal joint…

  • @Apocatastasis - *chuckle* The FBI got his hat.  When they searched his office and his luxurious house in the ski resort town of Girdwood, the “CBC” gear was listed on their search warrants.
