Just Disregard
Today I am just about as brainfoggy as I get. It could be the immanent Mercury Retrograde station, or maybe not. Pluto has been retrograde for almost two months, Jupiter has been retrograde for a couple of weeks, and within a couple of days of Monday’s Mercury station, Neptune and Chiron will be going retrograde. Also, the North Lunar Node, which most of the time moves through the Zodiac in a widdershins “retrograde” direction, will make a brief turnaround and appear to go direct for 2 days. Not only is this quite a bit of astrological upheaval all at once, but it is aspecting my “intensity” pattern involving the tenth and twenty-fifth degrees of several signs.
Speaking of “widdershins,” I was (figuratively, virtually) running around in clockwise circles a few days ago in the game I’ve been playing, and was getting dizzy and a bit motion sick watching the video screen circle around. When I moved the joysticks the other way and started circling widdershins, it relieved the dizziness, and that got me to wondering if “dizzy” and “deosil” (or “deiseal”) come from the same root. Etymology online says about “dizzy,” “*dusijaz. Meaning “having a whirling sensation” is from c.1340″ but it says nothing about either spelling of deosil. In the absence of any contrary data, I’ll assume it’s safe to spin widdershins.
Pollen allergies are affecting me as usual, and they are affecting my son Doug this year for the first time ever. On top of that, following my trip to town… was it one week ago, or two ?? …see, I told you I was brainfoggy… I have been forgetting to take my vitamins and cognitive enhancers. As George Carlin says, “The sicker you get, the more likely you are to forget to take your medicine.”
Today is my dog Koji’s 8th birthday, and my darlin’ soulmate Greyfox‘s NA “birthday.” He has been clean and sober for five years. He keeps reminding me that it’s my birthday, too, but I don’t count it. I stopped smoking dope five years ago when he quit weed, tobacco, alcohol and other stuff all at once, but going to NA meetings led me to relapse on the abstinence from sugar and caffeine I had been enjoying before I got “clean.” Quitting the weed was relatively easy. Caffeine I have quit many times, and sugar I had actually quit twice with great effort, before I found the amino acid supplements that helped me quit it a third time without all the white knuckles. Now I need to do it all over again. Fortunately, these multiple retrogradations are supposed to be excellent times for healing and recovery. I’m up for it…. unless that’s the brain fog talking.
My backspace and delete keys have been getting a workout here. I can’t type worth shit today, but at least I can edit… or I think I can. Who knows? If you spot any egregious typos, verbal faux pax, or just errors of fax, just disregard.

It’s retro time! My son Hoops who was speech delayed has had the toughest time this week with making complete sentences. I had to tell him to slow down and let his mind find the sentence so I could understand him. Bless his heart, it might be a tough month. Hang in there yourself!
Allergies are the worst. They always set me out of sorts.
God, I wish I knew as much about astrology as you do! I’m impressed.
I mow my lawn in concentric circles, just because it’s easier for me than back anod forth in lines, but when i go in deosil circles I get dizzy and/or “lost” in which area is next to mow. But, when I mow widdershins, I have no problems! I think you have something there!
Please tell me we’re almost done with this horrible retrograde stuff…my marriage is seriously suffering. UGH!
How is it that retrogrades help with healing and recovery?

I didn’t see any errors honey, so you did ok. Hope you feel better soon.
@flaminredhead - ”almost done” ?? No, dear, we are just beginning. Mercury, Neptune and Chiron will all be going retrograde over this long holiday weekend, and after that it will be weeks before they start turning around again. You didn’t want to know that, did you?
I hope you and yours can learn to laugh at the miscommunication and confusion as we do. It helps.
@dlm0908 - I don’t recall which famous astrologer it was, might have been Linda Goodman, but somebody authoritative said the retrogrades are good for any activity that starts with “re:” rewriting, recovery, research, renewal, remodeling, reviewing, reconsideration, etc. It is a better time for going back and fixing things than in starting new projects, signing contracts, and such. With Chiron the Wounded Healer involved this time along with Mercury, healing is highlighted.
well, um, at least you have stronger pinkies now. & at least there are two shift keys right? & if those both don’t work, then you can do it the way i use to do it back in my computer class in elementary school. hit the caps lock everytime. :
hope you have a good weekend. (:
@SuSu - It makes sense that if something is in retrograde, meaning looking backwards, that it would not be a good time for something new. I’ll have to re-read my Goodman books. Take care and I hope the fog lifts soon, Des
Holy SHIT! It’s been five years already? You and I have been here too long, my friend
I have no willpower. There are many things that I wish I could quit, absolve myself of…. and I don’t.
Congratulations on all the quitting! And hugs to you. We are having a rare rainy weekend in New Mexico so I’m planning to stay home and out of trouble.
I love the name Koji….that’s all I can really say here…
