what all little boys love
eneventure is hosting this week’s photo_challenge. Her subject is: Creatures that all little boys love.
I regret having missed last week’s challenge on “light and shadow”
because I have no shortage of such shots. I’m kinda glad the
computer was down and I missed the one before that, “glamour”. I
can see myself running all over the place in the frigid weather seeking
glamour, a commodity fairly hard to find around here.My first thought for this week’s challenge was kittens. When my (no-longer-a) boy was little, he loved kittens.
Then I realized that many boys prefer dogs.
I can’t claim credit for this pic. The aforementioned big little boy took it.
Upon further reflection, I recalled that “all little boys” have a
nasty reputation for a fondness toward frogs. The frog here may
be a bit hard to spot. It is a tiny Arctic wood frog, no larger
than a thumbnail.
As a further indication of scale, for those familiar with the
minuscule leaves of chickweed, that is what the green leaves there
are. The frog’s head, if you don’t see it yet, is at the upper
edge of the yellowed leaf.

My little boy, just turned 13, loves kittens. And I have always been particularly fond of frogs! At first I thought the kitten picture was a kitten in a mirror. Very sweet; really captures the softness and fuzziness of kittens…that inquisitive, curious, look, in a moment before they pounce.
It took a while but I found the frog!!
I found the frog, too. My (used to be little) boys loved frogs — and any other crawly thing they could find. :yes:

I think you pretty well hit the nail on the head as to what little guys like. Mine loved all of what you have posted here and they do today as well. There is always something that walks or crawls at my daughters house.

Xgram–I keep forgetting to mention this old news–remember the Roman coins I got from the dealer last year? I sold two of ‘em, kept the third for no special reason, found it a few days ago, got a flash and the oracle confirmed–I had the darn thing when we were Roman soldiers.
I have some other weird news re past lives, need to tell you privately, though.
most people associate boys with puppies and frogs (probably because of the old rhyme), but my friend just got a kitten, but i’m always over at her place playing with it…
so i guess all three pictures are accurate

One year at work there was a mass exodus of frogs from the rain pond. There was thousands of thumbnail size frogs hopping across parking lot. It was hard to walk across the lot without stepping on them. It took two days for them to finish their march and disapair to who knows where. I wish I had the fore thought to get pictures. Just sharing… Your entry is very nice.
