Feeling better today…
I haven’t been complaining here, but I could have. I have for
several weeks had one helluva miserable case of “hay fever” or allergic
rhinitis. I sniveled and sniffled around home, and took ephedra
when I needed to go to out in public. I thought it was caused by
pollen.Last week, we had several rainy days in a row and I realized that any
pollen that had been floating around had been grounded. That
meant that something else was causing my allergic reactions. I
figured it had to be either some airborne pollutants in the house, such
as cat dander, dog dander, my dander, Doug’s dander, dust mites or
such, or else it was a food allergy.I “asked my body” which it was (using muscle response testing, applied
kinesiology) and determined that it was “food”. Actually it was
drink, tea, the “healthy” tea I’ve been drinking for months, off and
on. I’m off it again now, back on coffee. It’s my house
blend, one part Yuban Colombian to two parts cheap store-brand dark
roast decaf. My sniffles have dried up. Yaay!
In general, I think allergies suck. I’ve got so many of them that
sometimes I wonder what life would be like on my home planet.
Their many manifestations are bad enough: the hives, the
sniffles, asthma and all. What’s worse, in my opinion, is the
fact that the damned things don’t hold still. They shift around
on me and things that were safe for me last month are suddenly poison.Well, home has become somewhat like the library, only instead of having
an hour to use the computer, Doug says I have half an hour. He’s
in the middle of another fanfic writing tournament and something is
about to happen there. Later… maybe I’ll get to do some Xanga
surfing after he’s asleep.

Yours is the second blog I’ve read tonight on allergies….
i dont like alergies either.
ive only had them once, and they’re not pretty.
Hi SuSu. Great name by the way!
Thanks for the comment. I used to live in Anchorage for awhile as a kid and then Soldotna as a young adult for about 6 months.

When I was a child in the 70′s (let’s keep that under our hat, shall we?) it was all the rage to blame child behavior on allergies. I spent 4 years eating, well, nothing that you’d call food. Nothing with sugar, nothing with artificial colors, etc…. etc……. Additionally, when I was in the State home, several of the other kids had laundry lists of things they were allergic to. Apparently I was the only one screwing up the trend by being an asshole just because I was, not because of external chemicals.
But I picked up a deep respect for the difficulties of people living with allergies, and you have my sympathies.
glad you have dried up…
I think it’s great that you aren’t so quick to think it’s one thing and not look at the other possibilities. I wonder why your body developed a sensitivity to it after months of consumption. I’ve developed a sensitivity to the color lavender. Glad you are feeling better.
Glad you found the cause… your right allergies suck!
Hi sweety–just uncorked a messy sneeze–now I gotta run to the restroom, get the snot off my hands. Yuk–allergy? Nah, just a damn summer cold, I think–I have all the symptoms, plus my own special one–perpetual thirst.
Oh well–the bunny’s back, BTW, looking better than ever–gave him a 409 bath.
See ya later!
I’m glad your sniffles dried up, it’s misery enough to have allergies..but allergies and heat, sheer misery.
I feel for ya! I am allergic to everything and break out in Hives every time I get a head cold. Took 4 years and numerous specialists to figure out the hives. Miserable – one doc put me on Prednisone which made me bloat up about 30 lbs over 3-4 month period (yeah, just pull the chair up to the fridge….). Finally determined that the allergies cause the sinusitis, and the sinusitis in turn causes the hives. And stress makes them worse! So now I take a daily cocktail of Zoloft, Valium, Clairton-D and Zyrtek. Also a very good excuse to not mow the grass anymore! (I’d be out there wearing my buggy goggles, bandana up tucked under the goggles, hat, gloves …. then bail in the shower immediately afterwards and put the clothes down in the laundry room right away)
You may want to check around for mold/mildew. I don’t know, maybe your climate doesn’t get a lot of mold, but we sure do around here. My hives got better – not totally gone – since we moved out of that house we were renting by the river. I never had the problem until I hit 40 (which took me awhile to realize it was that house!), but then again, I was an apartment dweller all my life and never exposed to all that stuff at once. Stupid allergist told me to get rid of the cats …. I said hell no, they’ve been sleeping with me longer than my husband!
Take care, glad your having a good day!
I never had alergies until I moved to the state of Oklahoma…
since then..
I feel like my head will explode every time the pollen or mold level goes up.
It’s nasty.
Glad you’re feeling better though.
Allergies! I’m glad you’re feeling better
I’m glad you found what was causing the allergic reaction. It’s hard to react to life positively when you are encountering physical challenges.
hugs,
