Green grass in November, above, is rare in this area. The moose are enjoying it, but it has a downside. As this news story says, “One problem. Hares change color based not on snowfall but on diminishing light. In years like this, with scant snow cover, a hare might as well set out a sandwich board. ‘Special: delectable white rabbit with a green grass garnish.’”

oh those poor bunnies how bout a can of spray paint lol i could just see me chasing them all over trying to hide em from the other animals..

i like the pic of the white ermine in that news article.
I love the ermine. I recall one winter of extra deep snow when I saw one running across the icy crust on the snow, at window level. They are tiny, elegant creatures, as sinuous as snakes.
Interesting. Is this related to the “El Nino” global warming?
