NOLA.com: Newflash: Alaska Earthquake felt in Louisiana
Yeah, it was a big one. I’m still searching for local stories that might detail damage in Healy and Cantwell, the towns up the highway closest to the epicenter.
We’re fine here. Greyfox said the car bounced around in Talkeetna, and things fell from shelves in Nagley’s Store, but no major damage in our immediate area.

I am surprised we didn’t feel it here in Washington state.. or maybe we did and I missed it. Wow, I wonder what that means for any tsunami issues??
I’m glad that everything is alright. Nothing like a good earthquake to remind you that nothing in life is guaranteed..
thank goodness everyone is alright!
grateful to hear.
I’m glad SuSu…I was thinking of you last night and hoping you all were safe.
I’m convinced that ‘magnitude’ and damage are only moderatley coordinated–even in populated areas. I think that there’s a refinement of analysis eluding the scientists–and they can no more assess expected damage by ‘magnitude’ than they can forecast the death toll from a hurricane–or whether Kahoutek was going to be a glow or a burn-out.
I thought of you and your little family up there the second I heard the news! I’m glad to hear you are all safe.
Exciting. Only thing I don’t like about earthquakes, besides the fact that they hurt people, is that they knock my books down.
