  • This is the fourth rainy day in a row, and the complaints have
started.  Greyfox, conditioned to a 5-day-a-week career before he
came here and became a street peddler, can usually take a two- or
three- day break without getting antsy, but he groaned this morning as
he read the weather forecast over my shoulder.  It wasn’t pleasing
to me either, saying rain for the next five days, and me with at least
three more days on the roof before it is properly waterproof.

Doug will probably be happy for a few more days of respite from
roofing.  He hurt his leg and foot somehow.  He was on his
way to bed as I was getting up, and he was limping.  He spent a
good portion of his night last night washing dishes.  That always
    hurts.

  • Those pics are beautiful!  I can’t believe those giant mushrooms were growing in your backyard!  And Mt. Mckinnely nearby?  Sorry ’bout spelling.  It must be cooler to live there than in Big Sur where Sarah lives!

  • “Cooler” here than Big Sur, yes indeed!  Cooold sometimes, here, but never so cold there.  Which is what’s so cool about Big Sur, besides the great Pacific Ocean.  I’m a California girl originally, but will only visit the world Outside Alaska in winter, now.

  • ~whaps John~

Hey man, Alaska by Willow and Talkeetna is just like Big Sur without the Ocean.
Jono and I both said that like, a million times.

    I miss it.  Alaska.
But not the smelly potatoes … heh.

  • Nice pictures…do you ever get tired of all that beauty?  (dumb question, I know)  I wish we had more greenery here…too many hi-rise apartment buildings! YUCK!  Spot

  • Absolutely breathtaking. I especially loved the shots [north-east] from your front yard. Was the picture at the very bottom of page one - with the gorgeous fire sky – taken from the same spot as the first picture on the second [Solstice] page (the one that is noted as being taken from your front yard)? Ahhhh, to live amidst such beauty!

  • the pictures are beautiful…the sun on the clouds…love stuff like that.

sorry to hear you’re rained in.  we’re dry as a bone here in KC.  feast or famine, eh?

  • Spot:  none of the three of us ever gets tired of the natural beauty here.  Even snow can be beautiful, but to be honest, it lasts a bit too long for comfort.  In about a month snow will start, and it will still be here next May.  Summer is over.

Hermit, the POV for each of those two pictures you asked about is almost the same, both right out in front of our house.

  • I’m sorry about the rain.  Is it the right season for a lot of it?

Hope Doug gets well real quick, and you can stand Greyfox a little longer!  LOL  Think up something fun.  Indoor olympics for the mentally challenged or something!

  • I have never been your part of the world. It’s very different. Beautiful.

  • While I wouldn’t wish for a full week of non-stop rain, we’re having a drought here and some rain would do us good. My only condition is that it rain only on weeknights, neve weekends or during the day. Think I can arrange something like that?

  • what beautiful pictures. i really enjoy your work, on xanga and otherwise. just thought id let you know lol

  • Its taken me 3 days to get through the whole of your blog and one word crossed my mind…..FAITH….trully inspiring.

  • Awesome! Wonderful!

  • The pod works from home most days…I’m actively framing my outlook on reality.

  • Hey, can you weather-witch some of that wet stuff to California? We really could use it…*chuckle* I love Alaska…but, unfortunately, your state bird (mosquitos) love me more….LOL. I can visit, though, and we hope to, before my husband’s brother-in-law retires. He works at the power plant in Healy. Anyway, I’ve been looking for some fireweed seeds, but I think I’m going to have to have my sis-in-law send some to me.Do you think it’s cool enough here to grow them? I was looking at the pics of your roofing adventure, and thinking that you probably got on enough goo to last awhile-at least I’m hoping! *chuckle*Did any of the stuff I suggest getting it off help?    I’m also in awe of your prison adventures.Wowee. I guess you know what you’re made of, when you can survive that, eh? Take care, and have a great week. *HUGS* & Pax~Z
