  • Update:

Doug and I spent some time on the roof.  We cleaned the stovepipe from the woodstove, which turned out to be the first priority before we start working on stopping the leaks.  We now know that we don’t have all the materials we need, and I’ve started a shopping list.

I’m weak as a kitten and trembling with fatigue.  I keep trying NOT to remember how much I used to be able to do before fatigue stopped me.  It’s too damn depressing.  At least I feel mature and responsible.  I feel ‘way TOO mature, and only reluctantly responsible, but I do think I can get the roof done, with lots of help from Doug, before snow flies.

  • There are so many things I can’t do at age twenty three…so I might be able to empathize with you on that point for sure.  Just being a mom, with a bad back, and troublesome lungs can stop you from doing SO much and it is horribly frustrating!  But, sometimes even projects like fixing a roof can make us feel better with that sense of something accomplished.  As long as we don’t let the frustration get to us.  Easier said than done. Ugh.  I hope all is well with you and yours up there in the great north, and I will be sure to write you soon. ~PaNDoRa

  • Sorry…this comments going to take up a lot of space but, there are times when it’s needed…  I hope you agree…

    Up On the Roof
Carole King (attributed to James Taylor…)

When this old world starts a getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I’ll climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right into space

On the roof, it’s peaceful as can be
And there the world below don’t bother me, no, no

So when I come home feeling tired and beat
I’ll go up where the air is fresh and sweet
I’ll get far away from the hustling crowd
And all the rat-race noise down in the street

On the roof, that’s the only place I know
    Look at the city, baby
Where you just have to wish to make it so
Let’s go up on the roof

And at night the stars they put on a show for free
And, darling, you can share it all with me
    That’s what I said
    Keep on telling you

That right smack dab in the middle of town
    I found a paradise that’s troubleproof
And if this old world starts a getting you down
    There’s room enough for two
    Up on the roof…

Hope you’re feeling better as the week progresses.

  • You take care of yourself, Ladygirl

  • take it easy and don’t work too hard

  • Ah … the roof dilemma.  (the following to be said with a rather sarcastic twang … then ending in a whine…) Why don’t you have a roofing party?  Invite everyone over to help you fix eeeeeeeeetttttt?

    Yesh.
You deserve a break … take a long one.
I hate being a responsible adult.  I hate it … I hate it … damn I want someone else to do it all for me!

Growls.  Mutters.  Moan … whine …

  • Hang in there, sweetheart-fun lasts awhile, but a good roofing job lasts at least 10 years….*chuckle*and I know how it goes…if I were to haul my buns up on the roof, I could do some serious damage to me and sundry…LOL…take care.*HUGS*Pax~ Z
