Just a little update:
Mercury is still retrograde and Franco is still dead.
I got to talk to my shy grandson on the phone, and learned the delightful fact that both his sweetie and their little girl are redheads.
In the process of catching up on the twenty-three years elapsed since I last saw him, I’ve been dwelling even farther in the past than those mid-sixties times I was warped into by almost finding my long-lost son. I’ve been giving my grandson some family history that he had been lacking, all the way back into the ‘Fifties before his mother had been born.
Time travel is exhausting. Or maybe this is just the chronic fatigue syndrome. I’m tired.
My current fantasy: fancy adjustable hospital bed; big screen TV complete with PlayStation2, connected to a satellite dish in case I tire of games; remote control, of course; and about a quart of Hershey’s syrup in an IV drip, with red-hot cinnamon candies to suck on. That should do it for now.

but what’s better than having those stories to tell? i’m glad you’re giving him that. i’m glad because i’ve been bleeding my family for the same in the past few years. the torch of family knowledge…
as for the ps2 — have you played dynasty warriors 3 yet? my word… the sweetie just bought it last night…. i got a call at work not ten minutes ago with “i can’t wait to get home and play dynasty warriors with you.” what a great phone call that would’ve been if he’d left out the dynasty warriors part!

I used to play with mercury as a kid. No idea how poisonous it is. I just played with it, cause me and my friend mike tompson had a pound bottle of it that he stole from the local dentist.

Thanks for dropping by my site, and the comment on the Cypress. I love the Ca. coast, especially from San Francisco south. The whole area along 17-mile drive, which includes the Cypress, is just gorgeous, and timeless.

incendently… billie holiday is amazing, no doubt… and strangefruit is an incredible powerful song about racial prejudice… it was written for billie by 2 men as i recall… a poet and her accompanist. that having been said… she breathed that song life.
